Skyhawk has purchased Catalog’nTime to improve catalog management for their clients. The immediate requirement is to produce a price list, web catalog and a paper catalog for their client Bee Valve, an innovative supplier of hose couplers and adapters. Production of any publication is a specialist task and there is a degree of learning required for a new system, not to mention the installation and populating the new software with content for the price list, catalog and web site. The way Lockside works with clients is to take each part of the implementation a step at a time with Lockside doing the bulk of the initial set up and population of the system. Gradually the skill has been transferred to Skyhawk, meaning that neither time is lost nor the new user overwhelmed. The supportive implementation has worked for Skyhawk and the project is on track.

Although catalogs are preferred over web sites for browsing and in-depth information about products and services, web sites are a vital and fundamental part of the product marketing mix or channel. Multi channel marketing is no longer optional but essential. The challenge for product intensive marketeers is managing product information. The view that a business system or ERP should manage this has prevailed for too long. Most organisations depend on their web site or paper publication as the source of their “product information” and have no other content management system. This results in conflicting and fragmented information that reduces the effectiveness of the message. Lockside sees the answer to this as an easy to use product information management system that links to Catalog’nTime and also web shops, which is currently in development.
